Matti J. Virtanen

Matti J. Virtanen has finished his Master of Science in Civil Engineering in 1975 from Helsinki University of Technology.
Mr. Virtanen worked for the industry since 1975 having tasks and duties related to development, marketing and management.
He worked for industry manufacturing construction products such as light-weight and normal precast concrete elements and blocks.
Mr. Virtanen has worked for the Ministry of the Environment since 1993. His tasks and duties has related to EU affairs and national building regulations.
Mr. Virtanen is one of the most experienced members of Standing Committee on Construction. He is also deeply involved in standardization work on construction field acting also as chairman of some Finnish mirror groups.
He has also been the project leader of Commission twinning light projects in Estonia and Macedonia.

The last couple of years more focus on the Construction Products Directive, and the Construction Products Regulation.
