The European Federation of Associations of Locks & Builders Hardware Manufacturers

I currently work with a local joinery company which makes doorsets, and occasionally buys ironmongery from us. When CE marking of fire doorsets is introduced will I still be able to replace their current CE hinges with another brand of CE hinges without having to go through an additional fire test?

Today, it is not possible to change the hinges A previously fire tested in a doorset, by other hinges B, without a formal assessment from a Notified Body. When fire doorsets are CE marked, the same rules will apply. When EN 16034 is in force, then the EXAPS will allow interchangeability, but the assessment will still have to be done by a Notified Body, not by the manufacturer.
